No fewer than 55 aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State have accused the party leadership and the state government of sidelining loyal members despite voluntarily withdrawing from various electoral contests to preserve party unity.
The aggrieved aspirants, operating under the umbrella of the Kaduna State House of Assembly APC Aspirants Forum 2026, made the allegations in a statement issued on Friday.
The statement, signed by the forum’s Chairman, Godwin Luka (Maisolar), and Secretary, Tahir Gambo Abubakar, said members abandoned their political ambitions following appeals from party leaders in the interest of strengthening the APC’s chances at the polls.
According to the forum, the aspirants believed their sacrifice, loyalty and discipline would be rewarded with fairness, inclusion and recognition within the party.
However, they alleged that repeated attempts to engage the party leadership and the Kaduna State Government had yielded no meaningful response.
The group expressed disappointment that, months after stepping down from the races, many of its members had allegedly been excluded from appointments, consultations and other political engagements.
The forum further alleged that while loyal members who complied with the directives of the party leadership had been neglected, individuals who openly criticised the party or opposed its decisions had been rewarded with appointments and other political opportunities.
According to the aspirants, they made the difficult decision to relinquish their ambitions in the collective interest of the APC, believing their commitment to the party would be acknowledged.
While reaffirming their loyalty to Governor Uba Sani and the APC, the group stressed that its members were not seeking special treatment but were calling for justice, fairness and recognition of those who sacrificed their personal ambitions for the party’s success.
The forum warned that continued neglect of loyal members could affect the morale of party faithful as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The aspirants urged Governor Uba Sani and the APC leadership to engage with members of the forum and address their grievances through dialogue before the situation escalates.
They noted that many of them command significant political influence within their constituencies and that their supporters are closely monitoring developments as preparations for the next general elections intensify.
The forum maintained that it has no regrets over supporting the party’s success but insisted that loyalty should be rewarded, arguing that justice, equity and fairness remain essential to sustaining unity and strengthening the APC in Kaduna State.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kaduna State chapter of the APC nor the Kaduna State Government had issued an official response to the allegations.
