
Four people were allegedly killed on Tuesday following renewed hostilities between local inhabitants and Fulani youths in Sabon Bariki, a village near Kwatas in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident is coming after the Nigeria Police on Sunday confirmed that 13 people were killed in an attack on a viewing centre and a reprisal the following day that led to the burning of houses in nearby villages. Sources from Sabon Bariki, a village less than 10 minutes drive from Kwatas told our correspondents on phone that youths from both sides clashed in the afternoon which led to the killing of four persons with several houses razed down. A source said following Sunday’s incident, youth from surrounding communities had remained on alert and continued to engage perceived enemies at the slightest provocation.
He said the deployment of security operatives had calmed the situation but stressed that tension remains high in Bokkos.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ubah Gabriel when contacted said he could only confirm that one person was killed on Monday night with several houses razed down.
