African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has alleged discrepancies in the academic credentials submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking to journalists on Monday, Sowore claimed that the Chicago State University certificate submitted by Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election differs from the document he presented in 1999 when he contested and won the Lagos State governorship election.
“The APC candidate only presented a paper from Chicago State University, which was different from the paper he presented in 1999,” Sowore said.
He urged Nigerians to avoid electing public officials whose academic qualifications cannot be independently verified.
The comments came after INEC published the credentials and other particulars of presidential candidates contesting the 2027 election, in line with electoral requirements.
Sowore’s allegations add to longstanding public debate over President Tinubu’s educational records, including questions previously raised about the availability of his primary and secondary school certificates.
As of the time of reporting, neither President Tinubu nor his campaign had publicly responded to Sowore’s latest claims.
The allegation remains a political claim, and no official finding has been announced by INEC or any court regarding the authenticity or validity of the documents referenced.
