Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring he will not leave the party for what he described as “Buccaneers and Vampires.”
Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Monday, Wike said his continued presence in the PDP is to ensure that the right leadership prevails within the opposition party.
He warned that his exit would pave the way for unscrupulous individuals to hijack the party and secure its presidential ticket.
“I will not leave the PDP until the right thing is done,” Wike stated. “What is the problem in PDP today? If we claim to be the opposition, shouldn’t we put our house in order and challenge the ruling party?”
Reflecting on the internal crises rocking the PDP, the former Rivers State governor claimed he had long foreseen the challenges the party is now grappling with.
“I have done everything for this party,” he said. “I will not walk away and allow Buccaneers and Vampires to take over. If I had left, that’s exactly what would have happened.”
Wike’s remarks come amid ongoing speculations about internal rifts within the PDP and his political future.
