The maiden edition of the Berom Nation’s Cup has received a significant boost as Hon. Chundung Kele and Coach Bros of Aminchi Football Club made a monetary donation to support the Berom Sports Development Association (BESDA) in successfully organizing the tournament.
The Berom Nation’s Cup, initiated by BESDA, is a novel sports development program aimed at engaging youth, curbing social vices, and empowering them with skills for self-sufficiency. The tournament is expected to create opportunities for young talents within the Berom community while fostering unity through sports with the aim of preaching peace to all participants cut across fourteen districts of Beromland.
Despite the financial boost, one of the lead organizers, Geoffrey Bottson, has emphasized the urgent need for more support to ensure that the competition meets the required standards.
“WE ENCOURAGE THE BEROM NATION TO SUPPORT THE BEROM NATION’S CUP WITH THEIR RESOURCES. SOME TEAMS HAVE HAD TO FORFEIT MATCHES DUE TO LACK OF TRANSPORT FARE, AND OTHERS ARE STRUGGLING TO MEET TRAVEL EXPENSES FOR THEIR GAMES. ADDITIONALLY, FUNDS ARE NEEDED TO SUCCESSFULLY HOST THE FINALS,” BOTTSON STATED.
With challenges such as teams facing transportation difficulties and budget constraints for the tournament’s grand finale, organizers are calling on spirited individuals, corporate bodies, and community stakeholders to contribute towards the success of the event.
The Berom Nation’s Cup is expected to unite communities, inspire young athletes, and set the foundation for a strong sporting culture in the region. The organizers remain hopeful that with additional support, the tournament will achieve its full potential and positively impact the lives of young people in Plateau State.
