Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has sworn in 15 newly appointed commissioners as members of the State Executive Council.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Friday, February 21, at City Hall in Lafia, the state capital. The Nasarawa State House of Assembly had earlier screened and confirmed 16 nominees, but Princess Margaret Elayo was unable to participate in the event due to unspecified reasons.
During the ceremony, Governor Sule urged the new commissioners to uphold accountability, transparency, and prudent resource management while avoiding corrupt practices.
He emphasized that the appointments resulted from extensive consultations with stakeholders across the state’s 13 local government areas.
“I charge you all to be dedicated in your duties and be result-oriented. This administration is anchored on accountability, transparency and prudent management of public resources, so you should avoid all corrupt tendencies while discharging your duties” he said.
The Governor further reiterated his administration’s commitment to key into several policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state.
He announced Yakubu Kwanta from Akwanga LG as Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Tanko Tunga from Awe LG as Commissioner for Land and Urban Development, Hajiya Munirat Abdullahi from Doma LG as Commissioner for Finance and Budget, Gabriel Agbashi from Doma LG as Commissioner for Science and Technology, Isaac Amadu from Karu LG as Commissioner for Environment.
Others are, Ibrahim Tanko from Keffi LG as Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr John Mamman from Kokona LG as Commissioner for Education, Aminu Maifata from Lafia LG as Commissioner for LG, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, CP Usman Baba (Rtd) from Lafia LG as Commissioner for Security and Sundry Matters, Mohammed Ottos from Nasarawa LG as Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Mohammed Muluku from Nassarawa Eggon LG as Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development.
