The Plateau State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has called on Christians and church leaders to remain steadfast in prayer, the study of God’s Word, and evangelism in order to sustain spiritual growth and overcome contemporary challenges facing the Church.

The call was made during the PFN Plateau State quarterly fellowship programme themed “Fire on the Altar,” held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Redeemed People’s Mission Headquarters in Jos.

The fellowship brought together church leaders and members from across the 17 local government areas of Plateau State, including members of the State Advisory Committee, State Executive Council, Women Wing executives, local government and ward leaders, as well as PFN members.

Delivering the keynote sermon, Bishop Dele Olukotun, Presiding Bishop of Solid Rock Faith Ministry and member of the PFN State Advisory Committee, emphasized the importance of maintaining spiritual fervency through prayer, fellowship, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Drawing his message from Acts 2:1-4 and Leviticus 6:13, Bishop Olukotun explained that under the New Testament dispensation, believers have become the living altar where God resides and manifests His power.

He urged Christians to consistently seek the presence of God, remain committed to soul-winning, and strengthen relationships with fellow believers, noting that spiritual fire brings courage, renewed strength, joy, growth, and victory over fear and discouragement.

According to him, many ministers and believers face increasing challenges and pressures that can weaken their faith, making it necessary to remain spiritually empowered.

Speaking with journalists after the service, the cleric said the message was particularly relevant in contemporary times when many Christians are experiencing discouragement and spiritual fatigue.

“The fire of God renews strength, removes fear, strengthens unity among believers, and helps Christians remain steadfast in their faith and calling,” he said.

In his remarks, the Plateau State Chairman of PFN, Apostle Joseph D. Rims, described the gathering as an opportunity for church leaders across the state to encourage one another and remain focused despite prevailing challenges.

He noted that churches and Christian leaders continue to face various forms of attacks and pressures but stressed that believers must not lose hope.

“We gathered to strengthen ourselves and remind every pastor and believer of the need to remain on fire for God through prayer, fasting, and the study of His Word,” he said.

Apostle Rims also called on Christians in Plateau State to remain steadfast in faith, expressing confidence that peace and stability would ultimately return to the state.
