A video circulating online shows the moment Yemi Adamolekun, Executive Director of the Enough is Enough (EiE) movement, was prevented from laying flowers at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos in honour of the 2020 #EndSARS protesters.
Adamolekun, accompanied by another woman, arrived at the toll gate with a bouquet of flowers intended as a memorial tribute to victims of the October 20, 2020 incident, where security forces reportedly opened fire on peaceful demonstrators.
However, the women were confronted by security guards stationed at the toll gate, who stopped them from carrying out the symbolic gesture. In the viral footage, the guards can be seen forcibly tearing the flowers apart, sparking outrage online.
The incident has drawn widespread criticism from Nigerians on social media, who view it as a show of insensitivity toward the memory of the #EndSARS victims.
