Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has made history by becoming the first African artist to surpass 10 billion streams on Spotify.

The Ojuelegba crooner achieved the milestone after his cumulative streams across all credits on the platform recently crossed the 10-billion mark, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most successful global music exports.

Wizkid’s most streamed song on Spotify is his collaboration with Canadian superstar Drake and British singer Tyla, which has recorded nearly four billion streams.

His third studio album, Made In Lagos (Deluxe), remains his most streamed project on the platform, having amassed over one billion streams. Meanwhile, his most streamed song as a lead artist is Essence, featuring Tems, with more than 333 million streams.

In a related development, American singer Billie Eilish has also set a new Spotify record, as her song Birds Of A Feather overtook Tones and I’s Dance Monkey to become the most streamed solo song by a female artist in the platform’s history.

Birds Of A Feather recently reached 3.37 billion streams, surpassing Dance Monkey, which stands at 3.3 billion streams.
