Samsom Ndah Ali, the 30-year-old pastor of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Mararaba Aboro, Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State, has been freed after being abducted by bandits.
The kidnappers, who initially demanded N100 million in ransom, released Pastor Ali after the church’s financial secretary, identified as Danjuma, delivered an undisclosed ransom sum. However, instead of releasing Danjuma along with the pastor, the kidnappers decided to hold him captive.
Pastor Ali, who was abducted from his home on April 8, 2025, just two weeks after his posting to the church, confirmed his release and the ongoing detention of the church secretary in a Facebook post. He expressed his gratitude for his freedom while praying for Danjuma’s safety and release.
A source told Daily Trust that the elderly church official had gone to deliver an undisclosed sum to secure Pastor Ali’s release, but was held back by the kidnappers.
“The pastor was freed, but the kidnappers decided to detain the man who brought the ransom. We don’t know why, and the community is in shock,” the source said.
Meanwhile, pastor Ali confirmed his release as well as the abduction of the church secretary in a Facebook post, praying for his safety and deliverance from captivity.
