A senior lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Samuel Ojogbo, is under police investigation following allegations of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old female undergraduate.

The complaint, lodged on August 28, 2025, by a 300-level student, accused Dr. Ojogbo of assaulting her in his office on August 22 around noon. The student alleged that she was forcibly violated and later received medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

The UNILAG management confirmed awareness of the case, stating that it has been officially reported to the police. The university added that its Safeguarding Centre is providing the affected student with counselling and support.

Speaking on behalf of the institution, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, Head of UNILAG’s Communication Unit, said an investigative panel has been set up to review the allegations. She assured that the university will make the findings public once the inquiry is completed.

“The University of Lagos remains committed to a safe and supportive environment for all students. A thorough investigation will be carried out, and justice will be ensured,” Alaga-Ibraheem said.

She further urged students and staff to promptly report any cases of harassment or misconduct through the university’s established reporting channels, stressing that UNILAG maintains a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment.
