United States President Donald Trump has announced the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
Trump made the announcement on Saturday in a post shared on his Truth Social platform, where he claimed that the United States carried out a large-scale operation targeting the Venezuelan leader.
“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.
“This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

This is coming few months after the United States government doubled the reward for information leading to the arrest of Maduro to $50 million, citing his alleged role in international drug trafficking.
The United States had, in 2020, during Trump’s first administration, indicted Maduro and several senior Venezuelan officials.
