President Bola Tinubu has nominated Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, SAN, from Enugu State, for a ministerial position.
The nomination was conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary on Tuesday. In the letter, President Tinubu requested the Senate to screen and confirm Ude’s appointment.
Following the announcement, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further consideration and subsequent screening.
The appointment comes after the resignation of the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, who stepped down last month amid controversy surrounding his academic and NYSC certificates.
Nnaji’s resignation had left Enugu State without a representative in the federal cabinet, creating a vacancy that Ude’s nomination is expected to fill.
