President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanugu.
According to the statement, the appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate in line with Section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2026.
President Tinubu has formally written to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, requesting the expeditious confirmation of Ambassador Yusuf. He is to replace Professor Abdullahi Usman, who resigned earlier this week after serving about 14 months in office.
Ambassador Yusuf is a seasoned Nigerian career diplomat who previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Türkiye from 2021 to 2024.
