Social media platform TikTok has announced that its live-streaming feature will be temporarily unavailable to users in Nigeria during late-night hours as part of an ongoing safety review.

The company issued an in-app notification to Nigerian creators on Sunday, informing them of the new restrictions.

At exactly midnight (Nigerian time), users began receiving system alerts titled “LIVE Notices,” which read:
TikTok LIVE Update in Nigeria: We’re temporarily limiting LIVE late at night in Nigeria as part of our investigation to ensure our platform remains safe and our community stays protected.

Live sessions, which had been accessible earlier in the evening, were automatically restricted between 11pm and 5am, with affected users seeing a “No Access” label when attempting to go live.

The limitation also blocked creators in Nigeria from viewing live broadcasts originating from other countries during the restricted period.

TikTok has not disclosed the full details of the investigation, but the platform emphasized that the move is aimed at strengthening user safety and protecting the community.
