Amidst the threat of potential attacks on churches in Osun State, security operatives have been deployed to various worship centers to ensure the safety of congregants during their Sunday services.
The state has been on high alert following an anonymous message on Facebook that surfaced on Saturday, warning of possible attacks on churches during worship.
In most of the Churches visited on Sunday, armed police operatives were deployed to ensure security of lives and properties.
At St Benedict Catholic Church, Popo, Osogbo, Living Faith Church, State Headquarters, Osogbo, Cherubim and Seraphim, number one, Celestial Church, Ayetoro, police vehicles and arm wielding men were seen watching all around.
Similarly, at the entrance of many other churches, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, also mounted surveillance with a view to ensure peaceful service.
When contacted, Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola said security has been deployed to several churches across the state since the threat emerged on Saturday.
“Across the state so far, there is no any report of any incident in all the churches and cooperation across security agencies helped put the situation under control”, she said.
