A dramatic road collapse left two vehicles trapped in a sudden sinkhole after a section of pavement gave way at a busy intersection in Omaha, United States.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, February 24, when a sport utility vehicle and a pickup truck waiting at a traffic light were swallowed as the ground beneath them collapsed without warning. Surveillance footage captured the moment the roadway opened up, drawing immediate attention from nearby motorists and pedestrians.

Authorities from the Omaha Police Department confirmed that neither of the drivers sustained injuries. The pickup driver managed to climb out unaided, while bystanders assisted the SUV driver to safety. Police spokesperson Officer Sarah Martier commended those who rushed to help, noting their quick response prevented panic and possible harm.
Officials from Omaha Public Works later indicated that the collapse was caused by a water main break beneath the roadway, which weakened the pavement until it gave way. Crews have since moved in to secure the area and begin repairs.
The incident has renewed concerns about aging underground infrastructure and the risks it poses to road users.
