Tension broke out on Thursday during the final burial of Nigerian gospel singer Bunmi Adeoye Akinnanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, following a confrontation at her graveside.

The late singer, who passed away on January 12, was laid to rest at the Atan Cemetery in Lagos State. However, the burial rites were briefly disrupted after a disagreement erupted between members of her estranged husband’s family and her children.

According to reports circulating online, Omije Ojumi’s estranged husband, who is said to be based in the United States, requested to speak with their children at the graveside.

Family members of the late singer reportedly opposed the request, insisting that the burial ground was not an appropriate place for such a conversation, especially as the children were still mourning their mother.

The disagreement escalated into a shouting match involving one of the estranged husband’s sisters and the singer’s son. The woman reportedly told the grieving boy that he was part of their family and that they loved him.

Visibly distressed, the son rejected the claim, repeatedly shouting, “I am not. I am not!” before other relatives stepped in to restrain and calm him.

The incident caused a brief commotion before the burial proceedings continued. A video of the altercation has since surfaced online, drawing mixed reactions from the public.
