Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has reacted sharply to his suspension by three major industry bodies—the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP)—challenging the basis of the disciplinary action taken against him.

The guilds announced Arimoro’s suspension on Friday following their review of an altercation that occurred on a movie set. The joint statement, shared by AGN President Emeka Rollas, stated that the decision was taken “from responsibility, compassion, and a desire to restore trust within Nollywood.”

According to a joint disciplinary document dated November 27, 2025, the AGN, DGN, and AMP concluded that Arimoro was the primary aggressor in the incident. He was found to have assaulted the production manager and the driver, and also circulated a misleading live video that misrepresented the incident. The video allegedly dragged actress and producer Peggy Ovire into the matter, even though she was not present during the initial confrontation.

As part of the sanctions, the guilds suspended Arimoro from all Nollywood productions until further notice. They also directed him to:

  • Tender a public apology to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director.
  • Release a corrective video stating what truly transpired.
  • Return to complete his outstanding scenes under strict supervision.
  • Comply with any additional directives issued by the guilds.

Arimoro Responds

Reacting via his Instagram story, Arimoro questioned the legitimacy of the investigation that led to his suspension.

He wrote:
“Can someone please tell these ones to stop playing..? What was the basis of your investigation please..?

Omo me, I think I’m in the mood for an IG live.”

His response suggests he may publicly address the matter in more detail.

The suspension follows earlier reports that AGN, DGN, and AMP had jointly concluded disciplinary reviews after the on-set altercation involving Arimoro and Peggy Ovire. The guilds stressed that their decision was to ensure accountability and safeguard the welfare of all members working within the industry.
