Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has threatened legal action against a social media blogger who falsely claimed that the Werder Bremen forward tested positive for cocaine and was banned from football for two years.

The post, shared on Friday by the X handle @YK_Milli, read: “Victor Boniface has now been banned from football for 2 years by FIFA after it reported he tested positive for hard drug tests, Cocaine to be precise.”

Many users quickly questioned the authenticity of the claim, urging the blogger to remove it or face potential legal consequences. The blogger, however, initially refused to retract the post until Boniface himself responded, hinting at impending legal action.

“Hope you get a better lawyer. For your sake I pray you get,” Boniface wrote in response.

The footballer had been ruled out for the remainder of the season following knee surgery sustained during training in December, shortly after his loan move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen to Werder Bremen. He underwent successful surgery earlier this year and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at his parent club.
