Super Eagles record biggest victory ever

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed one spot in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, moving from 44th to 43rd in the world.

The rankings, released on Thursday, mark FIFA’s first update for 2025.

Despite the slight global improvement, Nigeria has dropped to sixth place in Africa, behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire.

Eric Chelle’s side, however, dropped to sixth position in Africa.

Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire are the top five ranked countries in Africa.

The Super Eagles were in action twice in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe last month.

Eric Chelle’s side defeated the Amavubi 2-0 at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali.

The Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe’s Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

World champions Argentina maintained the top position in the ranking, with Spain, France, England, and Brazil keeping their places in the top five.
