The Eric Chelle, head coach of the Super Eagles, has confirmed that he submitted specific conditions to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding a new contract, following his team’s third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Chelle, who has been in negotiations with the National Sports Commission (NSC), said some details of his proposal were leaked to the media, prompting public discussion.
Reports had suggested that Chelle requested a monthly salary of €130,000 alongside improved working conditions. In an interview with histoiresdefootpodcast, Chelle confirmed the authenticity of the circulated document but questioned how it became public.
“Today, if I’m being honest, I don’t really know. The first question I ask myself is how this document could have ended up in the media. That’s the question I’m asking myself,” he said.
He also clarified that the salary figure is in U.S. dollars, not euros, and explained that the amount would cover the wages of his technical staff.
Chelle’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about the future terms of his tenure with the Super Eagles ahead of upcoming international competitions.
