Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has accused Senator Prince Ned Nwoko of marrying popular Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, when she was still a minor.
In a post shared via his Facebook page, Sowore claimed that newly obtained documents, including details from Regina Daniels’ international passport, indicate she was 17 years old at the time of her marriage to the lawmaker in May 2019.
He further alleged that the senator, who represents Delta North in the National Assembly, falsified official records to conceal Regina’s real age by obtaining a fake Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter’s card.
According to Sowore, the international passport, which was reportedly issued based on her birth certificate, shows that Regina Daniels was born in October 2001.
Sowore also alleged that Senator Nwoko travelled internationally with Regina while she was still underage, naming Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt among the destinations, but deliberately avoided travelling with her to Europe or the United States “because he knew the implications.”
He wrote in part:
“We have obtained a copy from Regina Daniels’s international passport, which was issued based on her birth certificate. She was underage at the time of her marriage to Senator Prince Ned Nwoko.
Evidence now available suggests that Senator Nwoko travelled internationally with Regina Daniels when she was still a minor. Records indicate she was born in October 2001 and that their marriage took place in May 2019, when she was 17 years old.”
The activist described the situation as a serious legal and ethical concern, calling for accountability and investigation into what he described as a violation of moral and statutory laws.
“No amount of influence or political power should shield anyone from accountability when such grave issues are involved,” Sowore stated, adding that the “truth will soon be fully public.”
As of the time of this report, Senator Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels have not issued an official response to the allegations.
