Shock as Deceased Infant Found Inside Blocked Drainage at UniJos Female Hostel

The University of Jos community was thrown into shock on Friday afternoon following the discovery of a deceased infant in a drainage system connected to a female hostel in the Naraguta area of the campus.

The disturbing find reportedly followed complaints from students about a blocked sewage system and a persistent foul odour. This prompted authorities to invite maintenance workers to investigate the source of the blockage.

According to a porter who spoke anonymously, the infant was discovered by plumbers during repair work on the faulty toilet system. The source suggested that the baby may have been disposed of through the toilet by an unidentified individual.

The situation unfolded when the plumbers, in an attempt to clear the obstruction, broke through parts of the drainage system and found the remains lodged within the pipes.

The incident has since triggered widespread reactions among students, many of whom expressed shock and disbelief that such could occur within the hostel environment. Others have called for a thorough investigation to uncover those responsible.

As of the time of filing this report, the university management has yet to release an official statement. Efforts to reach the institution’s Public Relations Officer for comments were unsuccessful, as calls and messages were not responded to.
