Nigerian skitmaker Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, popularly known as Shank Comics, has reacted after an old social media post in which he appeared to praise convicted American rapper Diddy resurfaced online, sparking strong criticism.
In the resurfaced post, Shank had commended Diddy’s “mindset,” describing his “perspective to the grind” and adaptability, though adding that the music mogul eventually “got lost in the pursuit of power.”
The post drew widespread backlash across social media, with many accusing the comedian of supporting an individual facing serious criminal allegations.
Responding via his 𝕏 handle, Shank clarified that he was not defending or endorsing Diddy in any form. He explained that the old post was a “misguided attempt” to reference a movie villain, admitting that it was poorly thought out and inappropriate.
“To clarify any misunderstanding: My post about Diddy was a misguided attempt at referencing a villain in a ‘movie,’ and it was irresponsible,” he wrote.
Shank stressed that he does not admire, support, or stand with Diddy, especially given the gravity of the allegations surrounding him.
“The allegations against him are horrific, and he deserves every consequence that comes from them. What he’s been accused of (and convicted of) is unacceptable and has no place in our industry or anywhere else,” he added.
He also emphasized that victims deserve justice and pledged to use his platform more responsibly going forward.
“I’m committed to doing better and using my platform responsibly,” he concluded.
