Nigerian musician Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has reacted to the viral video of dancer and singer Korra Obidi twerking at his father’s graveside during her recent visit to Nigeria.
Earlier, Tori News reported that Korra visited Fela’s grave over the weekend and performed what she described as a “twerking offering” in honour of the late icon.
Sharing the footage on Instagram, Korra wrote:
“I gave baba an offering. We visited the grave site of Anikulapo Kuti today, and we all know that one thing Fela loved was a woman with gyrating hips. So I decided to twerk for baba.”
Responding to the gesture, Seun Kuti expressed appreciation for what he considered an understanding of his father’s vibrant and expressive legacy.
He commented:
“You guys know what baba likes but you will never give him what he wants. E go better for you my sister.”
The video has since stirred mixed reactions across social media. While some users applauded Korra for celebrating Fela in a manner consistent with his flamboyant persona, others argued that the performance crossed a cultural and moral boundary, particularly at a gravesite.
