Senegal’s head coach, Pape Thiaw, has reportedly relocated the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy to a military base amid an ongoing dispute with Morocco over the tournament title.

Reports indicate that the trophy was taken to a secured military facility, where it is currently under armed protection. Images circulating online also showed soldiers handling the trophy and posing for photographs.

The development follows a controversial decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which declared Morocco winners of the 2025 AFCON after a post-final ruling, effectively stripping Senegal of the title.

Senegalese football authorities have rejected the decision and filed an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), maintaining that the title was earned on merit and should not be overturned administratively.

Meanwhile, Morocco has accepted CAF’s ruling, with players and officials celebrating the decision as confirmation of their championship status.
