Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has extended an invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other senators to attend a project commissioning in her constituency.

Akpabio read the invitation letter aloud during Thursday’s plenary session, noting that the event is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, as part of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s second anniversary in the Senate.

“In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” the letter read in part.

According to the letter, the meeting point for visiting senators will be the lawmaker’s residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State. Those traveling by air were advised to use the Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to Ihima by road.

Senate President Akpabio, after reading the letter, congratulated Akpoti-Uduaghan in advance, saying, “Congratulations in advance.”

The invitation marks a significant step toward reconciliation following a strained relationship between both lawmakers earlier this year. In February, tensions over seat reallocation led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension from the Senate, which was lifted in September.

Since her return on September 24, the Kogi senator has gradually re-engaged with the Senate leadership, participating actively in plenary discussions — including contributions to debates such as the additional prayers on the Criminal Code Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

Her latest outreach, however, represents the most direct gesture of goodwill toward Akpabio since her reinstatement.
