Siminalayi Fubara has expressed readiness to work with all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, including the recently elected representatives from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor made the statement following the February 21 bye-elections, in which Ukalikpe Napoleon won the Ahoada East State Constituency II seat, and Loolo Bulabari Henrietta secured victory in Khana State Constituency II.
Fubara described the victories as well-deserved, noting they reflected the confidence and trust of the electorate. “It is the beauty of democracy. When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes. I look forward to working with them and their colleagues in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the progress of our state,” he said.
He also commended the residents of Ahoada East and Khana constituencies for conducting peaceful elections, which he described as a demonstration of democratic maturity.
The remarks come shortly after the Assembly suspended impeachment proceedings against Fubara on February 19, following a long-standing political rift with his predecessor and Nyesom Wike, which had led to a six-month emergency rule in the state.
