Human rights activist Rinu Oduala has taken a jab at President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing it as a “government by graphic design.”
Oduala made the remark on X (formerly Twitter) after the Presidency shared a post reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to religious liberty amid growing international criticism.
The Presidency, through its official handle @NGRPresident, quoted President Tinubu as saying that Nigeria “stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty.” The post added that since 2023, the administration has maintained active engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders to tackle security challenges across the country.
However, Oduala mocked the government’s approach to communication, writing:
“A government by graphic design, for graphic design, with graphic design.”
Her comment appeared to reference the Presidency’s frequent use of infographics and stylized visuals in its official statements.
The post, tagged under the #RenewedHopeAgenda, was published amid global reactions to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of possible military intervention in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.
The Tinubu administration has since dismissed Trump’s remarks, insisting that Nigeria remains a multi-faith democracy with a constitution that protects freedom of religion and human rights.
