In a momentous installation ceremony held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, Reverend Ayuba Asheshe was officially installed as the new General-Secretary of the Evangelical Church Wining All (ECWA). The event took place at the Ecwa International Conference Center, marking a significant transition in the highest level of leadership within the ECWA church council.
The installation and sendforth ceremony was attended by ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, who emphasized the democratic structure of governance within the church. He described the occasion as a landmark moment in the church’s history, where Reverend Yunusa Sabo Nmadu Jr., the outgoing General-Secretary, handed over the reins to the new General-Secretary, Rev. Ayuba Asheshe. Additionally, two new trustees for Zone 2 and Zone 6 were introduced to the leadership at the General Church Council Level.
Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya expressed his hopes for a seamless transition and continuity of governance within ECWA. “It is part of the continuity of governance at ECWA, and we are praying that the Lord will continue to guide us, lead us, and take us to greater heights,” he stated.
During his farewell remarks, Reverend Yunusa Sabo Nmadu expressed gratitude to God for the privilege of serving as ECWA General-Secretary for the past six years. He regarded the position not merely as a title but as a platform for serving others. He reflected on the joy he witnessed among ECWA members throughout Nigeria and the opportunity to share God’s word from different pulpits. Reverend Nmadu acknowledged the ups and downs encountered during his tenure but affirmed that God had remained faithful throughout.
In his remarks, Reverend Nmadu highlighted the accomplishments achieved during his six-year term, including strengthening the ECWA structure through the implementation of a new constitution, bylaws, ministers’ handbook, conditions of service, and financial policy. He also mentioned the creation of an ECWA anthem and the successful revival of the ECWA university, transforming it into an esteemed institution of learning.
Reverend Nmadu offered his prayers and support to Reverend Ayuba Asheshe, the incoming General-Secretary, and encouraged him to lead with wisdom and success. “To my dear brother, Rev. Ayuba Asheshe, my prayer for you is that God will fill you with wisdom to succeed. And please do know that I shall stand by the sideline to continue to cheer you to success,” he conveyed.
Expressing his gratitude, the newly inaugurated General-Secretary, Reverend Ayuba Asheshe, acknowledged that being installed as the General-Secretary added to his responsibilities as a pastor, which he considered the highest calling in the ministry of the church.
The installation ceremony also included the appointment of Rev. Micheal Adamu as the new ECWA trustee for Zone 2 and Rev. Dr. Isaac Laudarji as the new ECWA trustee for Zone 6. These appointments further strengthen the leadership structure of the church.
Reverend Ayuba Asheshe’s assumption of the position of General-Secretary marks a new chapter in ECWA’s journey, filled with hopes for continued growth, guidance, and success under his leadership.
