Nigerian music star Rema has reached a historic milestone as his debut album Rave & Roses completed a record-breaking 170-week run on the Billboard World Albums Chart, making it the longest-charting African project in the chart’s history.
The album surpassed the previous record set by Wizkid’s Made In Lagos, which spent 164 weeks on the chart.
Other notable African projects with long runs include Tems’ Born In The Wild (79 weeks), Burna Boy’s Love, Damini (63 weeks), and the iconic Fela Kuti compilation The Best of the Black President (45 weeks).
In another achievement, Rema secured his second entry on the Billboard Hot 100 this week as his collaboration Secondhand with Don Toliver debuted at No. 29.
Meanwhile, Tems also made a fresh appearance on the Hot 100 with her new track What You Need, bringing her total entries to seven — a joint African record shared with Burna Boy and South African rock band Seether.
The milestones further highlight the growing global dominance of African music, particularly Afrobeats, on international charts.
