The Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, Diket Satso Plang, has distributed 2,229 bags of food items to Muslim faithful across the zone to support them during the ongoing Ramadan fasting period.
The distribution, which took place in Jos with party leaders and community representatives in attendance, covered the five local government areas of Kanam, Kanke, Pankshin, Mangu, and Bokkos.

The items distributed included bags of rice, maize, millet, and guinea corn, aimed at providing relief and demonstrating solidarity with the Muslim community during the holy month.
Speaking during the exercise, Senator Plang described Ramadan as a sacred period for reflection, prayer, and spiritual renewal, urging Muslims to use the opportunity to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in Plateau State and Nigeria.
“We are providing these little food items not because our brothers cannot feed themselves, but as a sign that we are together. It is a demonstration of unity and brotherhood,” the senator said.
He emphasized that the prayers offered during Ramadan should go beyond personal needs to include prayers for peace, security, and the well-being of the nation.
“Your prayers are not just for yourselves; they are for peace, for good health, for God’s blessings upon our land and for the well-being of all Nigerians,” he added.
Senator Plang also stressed the importance of fairness in the distribution process, noting that local government party chairmen and secretaries were invited to supervise the exercise to ensure the items reach communities across Plateau Central.
“Leadership is about sharing and being inclusive. I urge those responsible for distribution to ensure fairness and equity so that everyone is remembered,” he said.
He further expressed hope that the prayers of Muslims during Ramadan and Christians observing the Lenten season would bring lasting peace and unity to Plateau State.
Reacting to the gesture, the Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam Plateau Central Zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Hudu Manomi, thanked the senator for supporting Muslim faithful during Ramadan.
He said the gesture had brought joy to the Muslim Ummah and demonstrated the senator’s concern and solidarity with the community.
Alhaji Ibrahim prayed that God would reward Senator Plang for the gesture and grant him wisdom and protection in leadership, while also calling for continued prayers for peace, unity, and development in Plateau State and Nigeria.
Also speaking, the APC Chairman of Kanam Local Government Area, Aliyu Shehu Makama, commended Senator Plang for consistently supporting communities across the senatorial district, particularly during important religious seasons.
Makama assured that party leaders and coordinators would ensure the items are properly distributed to the intended beneficiaries.
Observers noted that the Ramadan support initiative is part of Senator Plang’s broader humanitarian efforts and empowerment programmes, which have included scholarships and community support initiatives across the Plateau Central Senatorial District.
