President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who will now serve as Minister of State for Budget and National Planning—her third portfolio in the current administration.

President Tinubu forwarded Oyedele’s nomination to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Prior to his ministerial nomination, Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram, Akoko in Ondo State, and served as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which led efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system.

An economist, accountant, and public policy expert, Oyedele earned a Higher National Diploma in accountancy and finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, joining in 2001 and rising to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. He is also a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
