The Presidency has dismissed viral social media reports claiming that kitchen staff at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa were arrested for allegedly plotting to poison President Bola Tinubu.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, took to his official X account on Sunday to refute the claims, describing them as “baseless fake news.”

The reports, circulated via a video on social media, suggested that a presidential chef was apprehended following intelligence of suspicious activities linked to food preparation within the villa. The video further claimed that a special police squad intervened, and security measures were heightened to protect the President.

The narration in the video also stated that the suspect was taken into custody for questioning, and that security authorities urged the public to remain calm while investigations continued.

Reacting to the claims, Onanuga wrote, “No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video.”

The Presidency has not provided information on the source or motive behind the misleading video.
