Dalyoho, a community in Chugwi Ward, Jos South LGA, Plateau State, celebrated a significant milestone on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, as the Plateau State Director of Press, Gyang Bere, facilitated the installation of a long-awaited 300KVA transformer.
The commissioning ceremony, attended by traditional rulers, former and present ward executives, representatives of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC), and members of the press, marked the end of a decade-long wait for electricity in the community.

Speaking at the event, the immediate past chairman of the ward, Davou Emmanuel Mwantiyi, recounted how the transformer was originally donated in 2015 but remained unused due to unfulfilled political promises. “We approached our very own Director of Press, and in less than a week, the installation process was initiated. We truly appreciate this intervention,” he said.

Engineer David, who led the installation process, commended the community for preserving the transformer for ten years. However, he stressed the need for additional cables and poles to ensure safe and effective electricity distribution.

Traditional leader HRH Da Atyos M. Mandung hailed Gyang Bere as a true son of the soil and urged other political figures to emulate his dedication to grassroots development. The event also saw the presentation of an award to Bere by the community’s newly inaugurated EXCOs in recognition of his efforts.

In his speech, Bere conveyed Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s warm regards and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to rural electrification. “Eight communities will benefit from this transformer, fostering business growth and development,” he said. He also pledged to support the acquisition of additional poles and cables needed for the project.
The commissioning ceremony ended in an atmosphere of joy, with community members expressing deep gratitude through music, dance, and heartfelt appreciation.
