A political debate over representation and performance in Plateau South Senatorial District has intensified following a rejoinder issued by the Komsol Media Team in response to a publication attributed to the group, “Lalong Vanguard for Senate Continuity 2027.”
In the statement titled “Rejoinder: Facts, Performance, and the Burden of Public Accountability,” the media team of former House of Representatives member, Hon. Komsol Alphonsus Longgap, dismissed the earlier publication as lacking substance, accusing its authors of resorting to personal attacks rather than addressing issues of governance and representation raised by Longgap.
The statement maintained that the concerns expressed by Hon. Komsol reflect what it described as “widely shared public sentiment” across Quaan-Pan, Shendam, Mikang, and other parts of Plateau South. According to the media team, highlighting hardship, unmet expectations, and perceived governance gaps should be viewed as part of democratic accountability rather than political hostility.
The rejoinder questioned the performance record of Senator Simon Bako Lalong, referencing his eight-year tenure as Governor of Plateau State and over two years as a serving senator. It called for what it described as a clear account of achievements that have directly improved living standards in Plateau South.
The statement also linked Lalong’s political standing to the outcome of the 2023 general elections, noting that electoral results, in its view, reflected public dissatisfaction with his performance.
Addressing reports of an endorsement in Langtang North Local Government Area, the Komsol Media Team described the endorsement as lacking grassroots legitimacy. It cited comments attributed to the Chairman of the Taroh APC Vanguard, who reportedly stated that the endorsement did not represent the collective will of party stakeholders in the area and questioned support for Senator Lalong based on his record in office.
On community engagement, the statement argued that residents of affected communities require sustained leadership and proactive governance rather than what it termed “reactive responses” after crises occur.
In contrast, the rejoinder highlighted Hon. Komsol Longgap’s time in the House of Representatives, stating that his tenure was marked by constituency projects, empowerment initiatives, and direct engagement with communities in Shendam, Quaan-Pan, and Mikang Federal Constituency. It added that these efforts, according to the media team, have contributed to his continued support among constituents.
The statement concluded by calling for political discourse grounded in accountability, dialogue, and reflection, rather than insults or propaganda. It emphasized that Plateau South residents deserve transparent leadership and honest engagement from those seeking or holding public office.
The rejoinder was signed and authorized by the Komsol Media Team.
