Jos the plateau state capital, home of peace and tourism has taken a new look as major streets are littered with dirt and smells. This is the direct result of the on going strike by the entire state work force.
The usual clean environment and state master plan restructuring has all been stalled due to the strike and most noticeable is the absence of the environmental sanitation officers responsible for keeping the streets clean. Some of those residing and doing business within such places have taken to the usual Nigerian attitude of waiting on the government to do it. Worst is even the famous Ahmadu Bello way, heart of business activities which has a new dirty look. With the rains coming and no sign of the strike ending soon, we can only imagine what will become of the streets as the dirt is seen closing a complete vehicle lane.
