Passengers aboard a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle narrowly escaped injury on Tuesday after the bus caught fire while in motion on Mile 12 Bridge along Ikorodu Road in Lagos.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred mid-morning when the high-capacity bus suddenly went up in flames during the trip.
According to accounts, passengers quickly disembarked from the vehicle and moved to safety before the fire intensified.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, alongside other emergency responders, arrived promptly at the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze.
The burnt vehicle was subsequently removed from the bridge to ease traffic congestion along the busy corridor.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had yet to be ascertained. No casualties or injuries were recorded.
