Senator Adams Oshiomhole has reacted to a viral video circulating on social media that appears to show him massaging a woman’s feet aboard a private jet, dismissing the clip as fake and generated using artificial intelligence.
The video, which began trending on Tuesday, February 3, shows a man resembling the former Edo State governor massaging the feet of a young woman believed by some social media users to be his wife, Iara. However, further checks indicated that the woman in the footage is not his wife but is alleged to be a South Africa–based lifestyle influencer and adult content creator.
The footage sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning the source of the lawmaker’s lifestyle and the authenticity of the clip.
In a swift response, Oshiomhole’s media office issued a statement denying the incident, describing the video as a “poorly crafted and edited fake AI video” allegedly produced by individuals seeking to blackmail the senator and tarnish his reputation.
According to the statement, the video contains visible technical flaws, particularly around the 0:06-second mark of the approximately 30-second clip, which the team said clearly indicate artificial intelligence manipulation and digital editing.
The media office urged members of the public, media organisations, and social media users to completely disregard the video, stressing that it does not depict any real event involving Senator Oshiomhole.
They further described the clip as a deliberate act of misinformation aimed at misleading the public and damaging the senator’s public image.
