Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has addressed concerns about the national team’s perceived dependence on striker Victor Osimhen.
Speaking in an interview with Oma Akatugba, the Birmingham City star highlighted Osimhen’s importance to the team, describing him as one of the squad’s key players.
“It doesn’t really bother me. People need to understand that Victor [Osimhen] is one of the star players of our team, and we always want our star players to be present in games,” Osayi-Samuel said.
“He is a phenomenal player. People will always have their opinions, whether he is playing or not.”
Osimhen was instrumental for the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he scored four goals during the tournament.
