A Nigerian woman, Victoria Kemi Adedoyin, has been found dead in her home in Canada, a development that has left her family, friends and members of the Nigerian community in shock and mourning.
Adedoyin, 33, relocated to Canada in July 2022 after obtaining her Permanent Residency and was working as a senior executive with a multinational company at the time of her death.
According to reports, she attended church on Sunday, January 18, 2026, and resumed work the following day, Monday, January 19. She later returned home and was scheduled to participate in an online meeting with senior executives that same day.
Concern arose when she failed to join the virtual meeting and could not be reached through phone calls or messages. Alarmed by her absence, colleagues alerted the police to conduct a welfare check.
Police officers later forced entry into her residence, where she was found lifeless.
Initial reports suggested that the coroner suspected a brain aneurysm as the possible cause of death, but this claim was later withdrawn due to insufficient evidence, leaving questions surrounding the circumstances of her passing.
Her sudden death has triggered an outpouring of tributes across social media, particularly from members of the Nigerian community in Canada.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the group Nigerians in Canada described Adedoyin as a highly driven professional and lifelong scholar. The group noted that after relocating to Canada, she pursued several professional courses and obtained multiple certifications to further her career.
She later joined Accenture Canada as a Senior Analyst and was initially assigned as a Client Account Manager on the Pinterest project. Within eight months, she was promoted to Senior Client Account Manager on the Direct (B2B) team.
According to the group, her versatility, resilience and leadership qualities led to her transition to the Agency Team in 2024 as a Senior Agency Account Manager, where she was later elevated to the role of Team Lead — a position she held until her passing.
Adedoyin’s death has continued to generate grief and unanswered questions, as loved ones remember her as an accomplished professional whose life was cut short unexpectedly.
