The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for its Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 49/2026, calling on qualified Nigerians to apply and serve as commissioned officers.
According to a statement released by the Army, the recruitment exercise began on Thursday, October 9, 2025, and will close on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The programme is open to both serving military personnel and eligible civilian applicants who meet the specified requirements. Successful candidates will undergo training and be commissioned to serve in the combat arms and combat support arms of the Nigerian Army.
Eligibility and Basic Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be Nigerian citizens by birth, aged 23–27 years as of January 9, 2026.
- Be medically, mentally, and physically fit according to Army standards.
- Have no criminal record or disciplinary case.
- Possess at least a first degree (Second Class Lower) or HND (Lower Credit) from an accredited institution (graduated between 2017 and date).
- Present a valid birth certificate/age declaration, certificate of state of origin, and NYSC discharge or exemption certificate (for civilians).
- Meet the minimum height requirement of 1.68m for males and 1.65m for females.
- Provide letters of attestation from two reputable referees — such as a Local Government Chairman/Secretary or a senior military/police officer not below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or Assistant Commissioner of Police.
- Submit a Letter of Attestation from previous educational institutions attended.
- Have no tattoos, body inscriptions, or membership in cults or secret societies.
- Present original copies of all educational certificates from primary to tertiary level.
- Serving personnel must have completed at least 5 years of service, present a valid military ID, and include recommendation letters from their commanding officers.
