The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 376 illegal immigrants in Ogun State over their alleged involvement in fraudulent activities.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the suspects were apprehended in the Lambe, Ajuwon, and Akute areas during a joint operation by the Ogun State Command and Zone A headquarters.
Speaking on the arrest, the Comptroller of the Ogun State Command, Muhammed Akadri, said the operation followed credible intelligence reports on their activities.
“After profiling the suspects, we discovered that 334 of them are Cameroonian, 27 Ghanaian, 26 Beninese, and one Togolese. They consist of 251 males and 125 females, all between the ages of 25 and 30,” Akadri said.
He explained that none of the arrested persons had valid travel documents or residence permits.
He further said there are 251 males and 125 females between the ages of 25 and 30 years.
It was also gathered that all the foreigners gained access to the country through unauthorized entry points, and none presented residence cards or any form of travelling documents after interrogation.
Akadri also revealed that the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap has ordered that the needfuls be done to repatriate them back to their various Countries of origin.
