A Nigerian man, Usman Zannah, has marked eight years since his best friend, Aliyu, married his former girlfriend — a relationship that began unexpectedly after a test of loyalty went wrong.
Recalling the incident, Zannah revealed that in 2017, he had asked his best friend to approach his girlfriend to see if she would remain faithful to him. However, the plan backfired when the two ended up falling in love and getting married.
In a tweet shared in 2019, he wrote:
“Today has marked exactly 2 years since I sent my best friend Aliyu to go and try to date my girlfriend to test and confirm if she can accept any other man over me. They are now married with 1 child.”
Revisiting the story on Thursday, October 23, 2025, Zannah reposted the old tweet, revealing that the couple’s family has since grown.
“3 kids now and counting,” he wrote, celebrating the unexpected turn of events with a tone of humour and acceptance.
