The Lagos State Government has begun enforcing its ban on single-use plastics, confiscating items from several supermarkets across the state.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a video shared on X on Wednesday. The footage showed enforcement officers seizing single-use plastic cups, straws, and related products from retail outlets.
“Our enforcement team today visited Blenco Supermarket in Lekki to enforce the ban on single-use plastics,” Wahab captioned the video.
The state government has reiterated that the ban is part of efforts to reduce plastic pollution and promote environmental sustainability.
