Lagos Council Manager Dies in India After Cancer Battle

The Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Council Manager, Bakare Olakunle Olanrewaju, has died in India following a prolonged illness linked to cancer.

His death was confirmed in a condolence message shared on social media by a close associate, Duke Olabode Sakirudeen, who disclosed that the late council manager had been receiving treatment abroad before his passing a few days ago.

Sakirudeen described Bakare, who was in his late 50s, as a dedicated and respected public servant who made significant contributions to local government administration.

“Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Council Manager, Mr. Bakare, died after a protracted illness. The Council Manager, in his late fifties, died of a cancer-related ailment in India a few days ago,” he said.

He further paid tribute to the deceased, noting that Bakare was a calm, intelligent, and professional officer. He recalled their past collaborations, describing him as a dependable colleague and a valued friend.

“Bakare was a level-headed, brilliant officer whom I had worked with variously in the past. He was a friend and brother. He shall be sorely missed,” he added.

In his remarks, Sakirudeen also prayed for the repose of Bakare’s soul and urged his family, friends, and colleagues to remain strong during the period of mourning.

The late council manager is remembered as a committed administrator whose service and impact within the local government system earned him admiration from those who worked closely with him.
