The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has announced the death of Rev. Anthony Lamba, who died in captivity after being abducted by bandits in Southern Kaduna.
Rev. Lamba was kidnapped on Friday, July 25, 2025, alongside Christiana Anthony and Danlami Zana while working on their farm.
In a statement signed by Rev. Alari Alari, Chairman of ECWA Kasuwan Magani District Church Council (DCC), the church expressed deep sorrow over the incident.
“With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Rev. Anthony Lamba, who was kidnapped on July 24th, 2025, along with his wife,” the statement read.
According to the Church, while his wife was later released after a ransom of N5 million was paid and an additional motorcycle was demanded, Rev. Lamba remained in captivity.
“Sadly, while arrangements were being made to deliver the motorcycle, he fell seriously ill and passed away in the camp,” the statement added.
A memorial service in his honor is scheduled to hold at his hometown, Kallah, on Sunday, October 19th, 2025.
The church urged members to “continue to pray for the Church of God and the family he left behind.”
