Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has met with his successor, ex-Governor Theodore Ahamefule Orji, as both political heavyweights appear to be aligning forces ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with the objective of dislodging incumbent Governor Alex Otti.
In a video currently circulating on social media, the two former governors were seen together in Umuahia in the company of their supporters. During the gathering, they openly declared their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, repeatedly chanting “on your mandate,” a slogan commonly associated with pro-Tinubu political mobilisation.
Political analysts say the meeting signals a possible realignment of political interests in Abia State, especially amid growing tensions between Governor Otti and key opposition figures. Senator Kalu, in particular, has on several occasions pledged to work against Otti’s re-election bid in 2027.
