According to him, top national and party leaders are expected to grace the occasion, including the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, who will formally receive Governor Mutfwang into the APC, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and over 20 APC governors from across the federation. Also expected are the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, members of the APC National Working Committee, federal and state lawmakers, members of the Federal Executive Council, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries.

Wase disclosed that the committee, with Distinguished Senator Simon Mwadkon, former Senate Minority Leader, as Deputy Chairman, has put in place extensive arrangements covering logistics, security, media, protocol and crowd management to ensure a smooth, colourful and peaceful event, in anticipation of a massive turnout from within and outside Plateau State.

Governor Mutfwang, he recalled, formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on December 29, 2025, and subsequently joined the APC on January 2, 2026, citing the need for purposeful leadership, clarity of direction and alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda to better serve Plateau State.

The committee chairman said the governor’s decision represents a profound and historic political realignment aimed at transcending partisan divides and placing the interest of the people above party considerations.

“This development signals a clear transition towards unity, collaboration, stability and the delivery of tangible dividends of democracy. It positions Plateau State to attract large-scale development initiatives, improve infrastructure, enhance security, create jobs and expand social investments,” Wase said.

He added that Governor Mutfwang’s leadership over the past two years has been marked by transparency, humility, selflessness and a consultative approach, earning him respect across party lines and positioning him as a rallying point for a united and progressive Plateau.

Wase further disclosed that preparatory activities ahead of the grand reception have included media engagements, road shows across strategic locations and continuous stakeholder consultations aimed at mobilising support and sustaining public enthusiasm.

The committee assured residents and visitors of robust security arrangements, effective traffic control and efficient crowd management, while calling on Plateau citizens to maintain peaceful and lawful conduct in line with the state’s long-standing values of unity, tolerance and hospitality.

He also appealed to the media to give the event wide and objective coverage, describing journalists as critical partners in promoting positive narratives and strengthening public confidence.

“This grand reception belongs to all Plateau people. With collective cooperation and commitment, the event will mark the beginning of a new chapter of unity, development and shared prosperity for our state,” Wase said.
